| Who Does the Actual Work? Ever met with a builder and liked what you heard, only to find out later that he does none of the actual work? We've all seen this happen. You interview Brad Buildsalot, and you like this guy. He's personable and knowledgeable, and you feel comfortable with the thought of his being on your property for the next several weeks. So you happily entrust your project to him, secure in the knowledge that Brad is trustworthy and knows what he's doing. Then the work starts, but where's Brad? Hammering and sawing away in your kitchen are five guys whom you've never met. You are a little worried about the one with the mohawk and the one with all those tattoos, but if these men work for Brad, they must be okay---right? But what about those seminars Brad spoke of---did Mr. Mohawk attend those, too? And those years of experience Brad mentioned---how long has Mr. Tattoo been in the business? Oh, well, you'll feel better when Brad shows up. But another day passes, and another, and still no Brad. You make some attempts at finding out more about the strangers in your home, but frankly, the way Mr. Tattoo keeps eyeing you is beginning to make you nervous. Also, the home addition you and Brad had discussed doesn't seem to be evolving into quite the look you had imagined. When you point this out, these guys just shrug and say that this is what Brad told them to do. You decide to call Brad. You need him out here to ask him about changes you want to make, about his advice on how you might like that window frame trimmed about, and about why you caught Mr. Mohawk eating out of your chihuahua's dog dish---heck, you just need him to come out and reassure you that your project is proceeding in the direction you had envisioned. Brad's secretary apologizes, saying he is out interviewing clients, but she will certainly forward your message to him. After a few weeks of phone tag with Brad, you are resigned to the fact that your addition is not going to be exactly what you had wanted, but you are prepared to deal with that, just so that you can have the work completed and these men out of your home! This won't happen to you with Woods Creek Construction. You will meet with the owner/builder, Jay Robinson to discuss your project. When the work starts, Jay is the one who will be there doing it. Also on the jobsite will be Jay's old friend and trusted partner, Jess Keefe. Jess is an extremely talented trim carpenter who has a real finesse for the type of old-world hands-on craftsmanship that has become increasingly non-existent in today's mechanized world. |
