began as a young carpenter in Houston, where he did work in places
such as the Galleria. Later, he gravitated away from the big city
toward the Bellville/Brenham area, where his expertise was enhanced
by a variety of restoration work in beautiful, historically important
buildings such as the Citadel and the Ant Street Inn.
raise his young family: Round Top, Texas. He, his wife, and their
three children have resided here ever since. The majority of Jay's
work is now situated in this area, although he also sometimes takes
on projects in adjoining Washington and Austin counties.
Our area abounds with historic architecture: antique Texas farmhouses, historic
churches, and beautiful 100-year-old barns. These treasures are beautifully displayed
against a backdrop of gently rolling pastures studded with jewel-toned wildflowers.
Standing guard over it all are stately post oaks and magnificent live oaks, awe-inspiring in
their incredible age and massive size.
We feel very fortunate and blessed to be a part of this area, and we understand why
people are drawn here. Aside from the spectacular beauty of the surrounding countryside,
the tiny town of Round Top has retained its sense of history and heritage in a way that
very few places can claim. Texas history and small-town charm---think of it as Norman
Rockwell, Texas-style!
The "uniquely Texas" historical flavor of our area is what attracts many of our residents,
and many times they want to retain or duplicate this essence in their homes. We
understand that. If it is our client's desire, we always strive to preserve that rustic look.
